So You Decided to Adopt a Pet Monkey?

Without preparation such as meal plans, shelter and cage, free times and training materials, sessions, toys… owning an exotic pet is simply not feasible.

If you are wondering about prices and costs for a monkey, understand that this is a very long term purchase. Often, the monkey itself costs several thousands of dollars. You will need a large cage, even for the tiniest of monkeys. Think a large area with trees, areas to climb, hide, jump and play. It needs to have cooling, heating, lights, toys, food, water… Expect to spend anywhere from $5-10 a in care, excluding fixed costs.

Phew… Thats a lot of stuff to remember. Are you sure yous till want to own a monkey?

Monkeys are very social animals.  If you are not home all the time, you will have to buy a companion for him.  Realize when you buy a monkey that it will be nearly impossible for you to travel since it is very hard to find somebody who can and will take care of your monkey.

If you do not plan on caging the monkey full time, understand that the larger species have the ability to OPEN AND USE THINGS. Fridges, doors, windows, furniture, curtains…
